“I was born in 1927 in the North east of Sicily and I came to Australia in 1949. I originally came to Melbourne then to Bangalow for a few years before moving to Goonellabah over 40 years ago. I came to Australia with my sister. I met my husband and we married here. We had my lovely family, Lucia, Joyce and Lidia. I now have 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. It’s very nice. Today is my 90th Birthday.
I still live at home and I do everything for myself. I cook for myself. I make my own bread, I make my own fresh pasta. I make my own Ravioli and Pizza, anything and everything I make myself just to keep me going. I like to keep going. I have my garden where I grow all my own vegetables and herbs which is necessary for me and there is always extra I can give to my family and friends.
What is your secret to looking so lovely and being so healthy?
I have no secret. I am interested in many things. I don’t say, Oh I’m old now, I have to sit down. I don’t say this. I keep my gardening up. I use Olive Oil for everything, preserving and cooking. My food is always fresh and natural. The main thing is my interest and love for my family. That’s the thing that keeps me up and happy.”
