” I’ve been here at the boot market for 25 years in this spot! I keep very busy, I play keyboard for all the local dances around Lismore. There was a group of seven of us called the ‘Harry Venn’ group whom I’ve been playing piano and piano accordion with for 25 years but we are now down to two of us. Ann and I go around the homes and play, I love my music. My mums 98 and a half and up until 2012 my mum and I trekked and travelled, Singapore,Thailand China, Vietnam, Pakistan which I could have stayed there forever but we had to get out because September 11 happened and we had to leave a week early. In February this year I had a downside, they found a lump in my breast so they took 5 lymph nodes. After Chemo I crashed then I got shingles , so painful but it’s a journey that I’ve gone through and I’m happy where I’m at. I’ve come through a dark tunnel but I’m back”
Footnote – The plant is from the Bromeliad family, its an Alcantarea and it’s starting to mature, it will grow another 2 metres and then it gets spikes and flowers.
