Rhoda – 99 years old on the 6th Feb. – ‘I asked Rhoda what advice she may have for us and if their was any secret to how amazing she is at 99’ ” Well, I’ve got to this age because, one I have good genes and as my daughter says I have a fire within. I think you need to spend less time at your computers and play tennis, swim, surf, sport in general and dancing..I’m the dancing queen and only 17..hahaahaha. Be kind and nice to your friends and everyone and laugh, laughter is what we all need. I was advised to move into a retirement village early enough to make friends and also to make friends with people younger than me so I joined the Lighthouse Club and I volunteer there and they are all younger than myself. I also remember in primary school I had a teacher called Miss Cooma and it was through her I learnt Fancy Work and how to crochet, every recess and lunch she would give her time to show us. It’s a shame teachers don’t have time for that anymore. The advice I was given years ago was ‘your circle will get smaller Rhoda so make younger friends’ and it is so right.”
