Paul – ” I just did the drive over from Mullum which I haven’t done in years, through Rosebank, all through the mountains there and had one of those moments reconnecting with this land and the people. Wow!, how lucky we are to live in this land and breathe in this air. The freshness of it all. I’ve been living in Indonesia for the last few years working on projects in Jogja, Kalimantan and Sumatra learning from the local people and teaching where I can. In 2011 I started a project with the Eco Warrior team and that was the introduction I guess. I’ve been back and forward and the last project turned into a whole year, it’s pulling me back more and more to be involved with what’s happening over there with Orangutan populations. I need to come home every so often because this area is like my recharging, my family and a lot of friends are here, I need to touch in with.”
“I ask Paul , What makes you sad?” “Well recently it’s connecting with friends who are going through really hard times and feeling their thing. At the moment their thing has been loss, loss of family, a friend going through a long term relationship break-up, sitting hearing their stories and feeling helpless. You sort of want to make it all better”.
“And what makes you happy?” “Spending time in nature with good friends, going canoeing, laughing and yeehaaaing and really revelling in it, oh and dancing. I just danced for 4 days straight at Earth Freq..so happy”
“And if you could give just one piece of advice to young people what would that be?” “Don’t be afraid to go and spend time on your own, don’t be afraid to leave the group and just spend some time allowing whatever happens to happen and be ok with aloneness.”
