Nell – ” you know I never saw the sea till I was 12 and to see the sea, we were taken on a post office picnic on a bus and I couldn’t believe the sea! we learnt to swim in a dam and you would have leeches all over you! During the war we were taken on Saturday afternoons to fold and roll bandages! see children don’t know this these days! You learnt to roll them on a knife, nice and tight then they would be sterilised. I married a Lismore man and I so wish he was still here”
