“I’ve been a vegetarian since I was a teenager and I’ve always loved retail but I’ve been in the socialist lefty book industry and while I was there I studied Naturopathy so I worked partly in books and then in the alternate health industry in inner city Sydney. When I had my son I moved up here and I’ve lived on a community for 10 years but food and nutrition and food as a first medicine has always been my real cornerstone. That’s why I’ve done this type of food here, there’s a real need for vital, living food. So many more people are presenting with food intolerances and auto immune illnesses and they need to be able to find food conveniently when they’re out and about. Others are just wanting to be healthier. So the response has been so positive so far and it’s a way of being creative as well with food. We do cold pressed juices that we bottle in the morning, fermented products and we sell local produce. I love the eclectic community here. We have a university, a conservatorium, activists, whacky people that are drawn to the area, beautiful countryside and then this solid kind of rock of the old cockys, the farmers. It’s a funny mix, pretty unique and it all comes together, I love that!”
