“I am a Counciller with Coffs Harbour City Council. I’ve brought my family with me here to Lismore and what I do is feed people really well. I’ve come here with my family and we are going to make lots of lovely Lentil Dhal and rice plus more. We want to help out with this natural disaster. Humans suffer and if we don’t all pitch in and do what we can do ourselves, it doesn’t work.
I have a Sikh heritage. My grandfather came here to this area in 1880. Lismore is so important to me. They didn’t have a Crematorium in our area and a lot of Sikhs used to come to Lismore to be cremated. My father was cremated here. It’s a very important town and a very important region because of that emotional attachment. Beautiful people here.
I do the food at The Channon Market every month and all the food I do at my market I am going to feed everybody here for free. Very important for us to do this.”
