” I was 16 years old at the time, I was training to do boxing as my sport and I had to lose 25 kilos for an amateur / professional fight. In order to do that I decided to go on a detox and at the same time I decided to train 8 plus hours a day so I lost about 21 kilos in about a month and a half.

I then had a week straight of having a high fever and one morning I woke up with a pounding headache and I thought this is so not normal and cuddled back into bed. Suddenly I felt as if a horse had just kicked my sternum out and at the same time as being stabbed in the chest. I completely lost all sensation in my left arm, I was breathing really rapidly, my vision was going blurry and I could taste metallics in my mouth. After about 5 minutes of crashing into stuff trying to get up the hallway to my mum we drove to the hospital and as we got to the roundabout at the hospital I started to have like an actual full DMT trip, the thing you have before you die.

It started with my mum and my dad and raced through all my memories I had with them, then my brother and sister, all my friends, extended family, even people I had not long met. All my lifes memories in about one and a half minutes crammed in from the moment I was born, literally.

They put me in immediately, gave me this pill that thins the blood, pumped me full of morphine. They did my bloods and said this is pretty serious so they put me in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and I was flown to Brisbane Mater Hospital and the whole time I was shitting myself cause everytime you hit a cloud it drops down like 10 metres.

Because I was 16 they put me in the children’s hospital so I got to have really nice nurses which was awesome. That day they came and told me that there was an enzyme in my blood which is an enzyme that’s created when you have a heart attack and when your your heart is dying. It’s called called Troponin and my levels were like 10 / 10 when it’s supposed to be 0.1 normally. They said ‘By the looks of things you will probably need a heart transplant!’ I said ‘well how long till that can happen?’ They said ‘could be about 6 years!’ and I said ‘well how long will I last?’ and they said ‘maybe 6 months’.

I called my family and friends and for 2 weeks they kept me under heavy observation. I wasn’t allowed out of bed, had to pee in a bottle. After the 2 weeks the doctor came in with a very confused look on his face and he said I cannot tell you the reason why but you are completely fine. Your bloods are clear and you can go home.

I think my mum had been praying for me and it was the only time my dad had ever said he loved me as he thought I was dying. It was really intense as my brother was there and he even said he loved me which was strange because we normally beat the crap out of each other. That was 2 years ago. I still have regular heart checkups every year and the last one said that my heart is 3 times stronger than it was before so I’m pretty lucky.”
