My name is Henry and I’m very pleased to meet you. I’m about two years old and I live in Lismore. I know I may not fit the normal criteria for a Human of Lismore, but the nice photographer lady told me this page is about sharing our community’s many stories, which as everyone knows, come in all shapes and sizes.
2 months ago, I was living at Lismore Pound and apparently my time was up. I had been there a few weeks and nobody had claimed me as their own, until one day when a lady came to see me. She was kind and smiled at me and gave me some great pats, and then she was gone again. But a day later, she and one of her big sons came back! She told me that I could come and stay at her house and that she would be my mum until she found me the perfect forever home.
I love my foster mum so much. She helped me pack on a few kilos to get back to a healthy weight and she took me to the vet for a couple of uncomfortable but necessary operations and best of all she showered me with love. But her yard is small and my so is my foster mum. She works full time so she doesn’t always have the time or strength to play with me. I’m a very big boy you see – a Mastiff cross and I need a bit more room to move. I love cuddles and Mum reckons I lack something called ‘spatial awareness’ – whatever that is. However I am apparently quite bright. I often overhear her telling people how smart I am!
Mum also tells me I’ve got a big heart to match my big head. She says “Henry, if your head was any bigger I’d have to call you Hercules Morse, as big as a horse!” I’m glad she just calls me Henry.
I’m a really well behaved boy. I love kids and other dogs, although I haven’t met that many. I love to wrestle, but only with consent (it takes two to tango, after all). I love to eat, but mum always makes me sit and wait before dinner. But what I really love, more than anything else, even more than dinner, is being loved in return.
I guess what I’m hoping for is that someone will read my story and want me to be part of their family. It has been a tough few months for me, but I know there’s someone out there who could use my company just as much as I could use theirs.
If you think you’d like to meet me or if you think I sound perfect for someone you know please email my mum Lea.
Thanks for taking the time.
Henry
