Darcy and Nat

“ What we are creating down here is Lismores first integrated coffee / audio lounge so while we are separate businesses we have combined the space in a way that it welcomes people to go into the audio lounge and listen to some great music of their choosing and see some great hi-fi gear whilst enjoying a good healthy breakfast and a coffee. We want to create a unique space thats relaxed and rustic and authentic. We’ve done all the work ourselves using all recycled timber, using local suppliers and producers and trying to keep that community focus going.
Nat and I went to primary school together and have always considered doing something together business wise. We both grew up in Tabulam, west of the range in the bush and we always hung out. Now many years later we have managed to find a way to combine a business idea. It’s been nice to see it come to fruition, share the workload and help each other out.
My ethos with the Bircher Bar is trying to create fresh and healthy food and show people that you can have amazing flavours and keep it all natural still. And again using local growers and suppliers and keep money in the region, know who I’m dealing with face to face and same goes with the customer side. I’m shipping my muesli online at the moment all over Australia and I like the idea of being the sole distributer so there is that relationship with the customer. The sustainable side is another big part so I try and use recycled things in building like old pallets (heat treated) and linseed oiled. What I’ll have is a hole in the wall breakfast bar.
Nat is selling high end audio products, top shelf. Again he is similar to my ethos where he is the dealer for these products. You couldn’t walk into a department store and find any of this on sale nor can you get them online. He has direct relationships with some of the producers of these products. Fully integrated audio, elite home theatre systems. He will go to peoples homes and fit it out for them and troubleshoot if needed. A very hands on experience which you don’t get from a larger chain.
We are into the small business component, making people feel welcome and at the same time bringing some love to The Summerland Arcade. We have had so much help from our partners and my brother with building and getting set up. Everyone bands together, it’s just the Lismore way.”
The Bircher Bar and Living Entertainment are having their grand opening this Monday the 26th October at 6am.
