“ Lismore would be the town I call home! I’ve lived here for the longest portion of my life. Originally from the Northern Beaches in Sydney we came up here and moved first to Uralba. My mum lives at Tuckurimba which is home and where my heart is. For me and music, music is what I do in life at the moment, it’s my passion, I love it.
I moved down to Melbourne after high school! I did a gap year in France first then moved to Melbourne straight away cause I realised that’s maybe where I needed to be to be to do the music thing and it’s definitely been incredibly rewarding. I’m playing in quite a few bands and I’m really focusing on my own music.
I’ve been writing songs since I was 14. I used to play just for my mums friends and she encouraged me to go busking which is something I always wanted to do. I first busked when I was 15 outside The Mecca with my tiny little wooden chair and my guitar, I just taught myself a bunch of three chord songs that I liked and was terrified and I remember I started Blackbird which is a pretty tough one. Anyway someone put money in my hat and I was like ‘that was pretty easy!’ so I busked for the next year and a half.
I’m doing my first tour at the moment up the East Coast from Melbourne to Brisbane, 15 shows in three weeks and I’m supporting a musician called James Teague. He’s a beautiful, quirky, amazing musician, really got some skill and he asked me to support him. I thought what an opportunity to learn about touring so I jumped on board and we have a show coming up at The Rous Mill Hall which is my local hall, my mum was married there and it’s been a hall of many occasions so it’s nice to be hosting a gig there. It’s this Sunday 23rd August. The doors at 3.30pm starting at 4pm. There will be soup and cakes so it will be sweet.”
‘Today I made this beautiful girl sing one of her originals. It’s outside a busy cafe and lots of noise around but she shines regardless.’
