Clive 91 and Dell 85 from Casino

Dell – “ We’ve only been married 13 years. It’s second marriages for both of us.”

Clive – “I was born in Ballina. My dad had a bakery business and we travelled all over the North Coast.
We met at the Uniting Church is Casino and we have 8 children between us. Four each! Ive lived in Casino since 1943 and I haven’t shifted.

So what do you love most about Clive?
Dell – “He’s so helpful. He helps me a lot because I do need help. He holds my hand when we walk anywhere.

And what do love most about Dell?
Clive – “I just really love her…that’s all!”

What do you think is the secret to having a happy marriage?
Clive – “You just need to talk things over. Mind you, there’s some things we don’t agree on but that happens in life.”

Any advice you would give young people today?
Clive – “Well I don’t know. We never had computers or anything like that. I think young people rely to much on technology these days. I’m 91 and my mind and my brain is still as sharp as when I was 50.”

Dell – “He can’t use a computer.”

Clive – “I get by! I can add up anything in my mind…no trouble at all. I don’t have to look up a little screen to work it out.”

What advice would you give young people Del?
Dell – Well I think they should talk things over more and think of their children. Broken marriages are so terrible. I’ve been there and done that. It’s hard on the children because they suffer the most. It seems too easy these days to run off.”
