“The Popup Red Shop in Magellan St is closing on the 16th December. It was always the brief that we would cover our costs as we aren’t here to make lots of money. It was mainly for the REDinc service users to display their art and ceramics and also their T-shirt designs but we also clothes on consignment to support workers and some of our local people. We haven’t covered our costs and with the NDIS (National insurance Disability Scheme) looming in 2017 little independent bodies like REDinc will have to be counting every being to survive.
The shop will be going so I would love all our customers to come and buy up. The space will be used again. I think they are talking about people with Aspergers and Autism doing amazing things with computers. In the future we will most likely have genuine Pop up shops for our artists where we will have exhibitions and people can purchase. We’ll be looking to the future to make money in creative ways so myself and two other ladies are going to form a not for profit, fundraising bunch and we will do whatever we can to make sure that REDinc can thrive as well as the people within REDinc themselves. They are very innovative and we love the program because of how flexible it is. If somebody comes and is working on something that they are passionate about they do want us to make sure that we can nurture and fulfil that passion.
We have challenges ahead and exciting times ahead and we are all excited about it. So please come and buy some goodies. There are some of our regulars that love a certain label so come and get it while you can”
