“ I’m a 5th generation Lismore girl. Ive moved away a lot but I always come back, I sort of feel like part of the soil here, super connected. I mean sometimes Lismore drives me a bit crazy but I get over it very quickly. One day a week I volunteer at the Animal Welfare op shop and another day I volunteer at the Westpac Rescue Helicopter op shop, a couple of days a week I go and help my parents who are elderly and fairly ill. There’s other volunteer work I do as well and I love cooking and gardening and my main passion in life is art.
I love Lismore because everything is so familiar, I love the people, I love how we can be who we are and what we are and it’s accepted. Lismore has a community that in time of need really pulls together and it was like that even when I was a kid. You know when a families house burned down everyone chipped in and rebuilt it and furnished it for them if they didn’t have insurance.
If I had to come up with one of the happiest days of my life it would be sitting on the banks of the Nile, sipping Turkish coffee and smoking an apple shisha pipe, watching the Nile go by and I remember thinking, if I died right now I would be the happiest person on earth.”
