Americo – I’ve been growing fruit for over 25 years and we are here at the farmers market Thursday arvo and Saturday morning at the showground. It’s good fun meeting people. That’s the best part of the selling. I am Italian but have been here for over 60 years. I love Lismore because the Italian tradition is pretty high and I’ve been involved in that pretty heavily with ‘The Italo Club’ and ‘New Italy’. We had restaurants at the Italo Club and the bowling club for 28 years and I did all the cooking for New Italy when they had the big anniversary days, 3000 people sometimes. If your a young fella, I’m too old, but if you can grow your own vegetables and go to the market you’ll make good money and it’s a nice thing to do. People love fresh vegies, it’s good for the community and you can make a living but you need to be young not an old bugger like me.”
