“I’m about to do one of the biggest walks I’ve done yet which is ‘The Larapinta Trail’ in the Northern Territory. It’s a 223 kilometre walk and it will take us approximately 17 days. We’ve organised to be dropped off at Redbank Gorge and then from there we walk east back to Alice Springs.”
“There’s two of us, a friend Anna whom I met doing the ‘Camino de Santiago’ walk 5 years ago and now she’s coming over to do the Larapinta. We’ve arranged for three food drop offs, we basically have to carry everything but I’ve been training most of the year for it.”
“What I love about walking is you have time to really live in the moment and you don’t get that very often with the busy lives we all lead so I appreciate the lack of technology. I’ll have my binoculars so will be bird watching as much as I possibly can and I love the great outdoors, getting away from it all. Walking is something we can all do regardless of our work, how much money we have and walking puts us in touch with ourselves, especially long distance. It allows you to process your thoughts and feelings and get rid of some. I feel very priviliged that I have this opportunity.”
