Alice and Coralie

Alice – “ Remember when we were sitting on the jetty fishing at Evans Head and we caught that huge blue swimmer crab. We put it in a bucket where we knew it was safe and secure and settled in for the fishing. Next thing we looked over our shoulder coming down the jetty was the crab with it’s massive nippers up ready for attack. Well I was 7 months pregnant at the time and had big mans overalls on ( she is 4’9”) I couldn’t get up, we couldn’t stop laughing hysterically and I wet myself. The crab went back to the sea.”
Coralie – “I grew up in Lismore, I went to Lismore Primary school when it was at the conservatorium and Lismore High School. When I was a young girl we had a nanny goat called Nanny and it used to graze out the front of the fence and knew when the pound man was in the area. She would run inside the gate and bleat like she was teasing him and the moment he left she would run back out. This went on for years and drove the ranger mad.” Another funny thing I remember is as a young woman I worked for a company where the boss was always on the phone and we had to buy him a present so in our lunch break we went shopping and we found an old fashioned upright phone thing that we thought would be beautiful as a gift so we went back to work and they said ‘Oh Coralie, that’s a bong!’”
