Abigail is 40 years old and when I took this photo yesterday she was makeup free! three grown children, her daughter recently married, she models, has just released a cookbook called Model Chocolate’ and is a walking testament to organic, healthy living. I asked her about her lifestyle.”

Abigail – “ I am very passionate about health, passionate about people and very inspired to create beauty, I love creating, whether it’s painting an image or making something in the kitchen! so that’s part of creating the recipes in the book but more of putting the fashion, beauty thing to it so it wasn’t just a hippie thing. The recipe book has 84 recipes in it. It is sugar (refined) free, dairy and gluten free. I have been setting my alarm and rising 40 minutes earlier lately so I can get back into my yoga. I always start with lemon water and teas but yes mindfullness and prayer. I’m a Christian, so yes a positive outlook. ha but then I’m slaving away for my boys. I’ve spoiled them, I even butter their toast still! They’re so spoilt so I apologise in advance to their future partners. I have really been kind to them all, you know when you’re a foodie and you want to give!

It actually takes a lot of time to live organically and I’ve tried to make the recipes in the book for the chocolate really quick so people can incorporate that into their lives but when you do everything, do all your juicing, sprout your own wheatgrass, make your chocolate, grow your food, work, look after your family, When you do it all to have this awesome organic life which is really fulfilling, it does take time but it’s so worth it. I’ve never been drunk, ever! Never drunk alcohol! I’ve only kissed my husband, he’s my only boyfriend I’ve ever had so yes I’ve had a very old fashioned young life but actually I’ve had so much fun. I’ve never felt deprived! I feel happy and blessed that I’ve never been chained to an addiction. My biggest passion would be nature, I’m so an earth mother and get my adrenaline fixes by riding a board, jumping off waterfalls and do things that are adventurous but you can’t do that if your not well or you don’t look after your body. I didn’t actually start modelling till I was 32 as I was raising my family up until then, grew wheatgrass, homeschooled my kids, had that organic, alternate lifestyle, grew gardens , made bread, all that stuff. People think that at my age I must be a retired model but I’m not! I think I’ve shaped my life around my values and not let them be compromised, That’s what has made me who I am and given me a happy, fulfilling life. Instead of thinking ‘oh, I want that dream and I want it now and I want to do it now’, I’ve also considered, ok what about my husband and my children. My dreams have always been second to my values and I can’t say how happy that makes you. Don’t feel like if you didn’t do something you wanted to do when you were young that it’s lost because you just never know how life turns out, It’s funny how the circle of life goes!”
